Relationship Question, I need your advice

My boyfriend insists that when it comes to decision making, that the male has the last say. This makes my blood boil. He thinks if their is a situation where both parties feel strong about their own opinion, then it should default to the males decision.

I totally disagree with him. I feel that relationships are about give and take, and if there is a situation where both couples disagree totally then one person has to back down, but they should be able to get their way the next time, or the couples should try to come up with a compromise.

He absolutely disagrees with me. He just keeps on insisting that someone has to have the ultimate say in disagreements, and it should be the male. He says that you can't always compromise. He also said that he isn't going to back down on his principles if he feels strong enough about it.

How should couples go about deciding on something when both sides feel so strong about their opinion?

What if we continue to totally disagree on this issue? Should I not stay with someone that feels this way. I don't want to wear the pants in the family, but I certainly want my equal say in everything.

I am a strong, intelligent person, too. Why should he have the final say? He says that woman shouldn't have the last say because they think with their emotions.
Any advice?

    dear alex,
thanks 4 putting up this blog.  dk posed a great question.  what do you advise.  i'd like to know your opinion about this male supremacy syndrome.  i hate it when my husband sticks his guns to an idea i know too well to be dumb.  how should i respond to such dumbness.  it makes me so mad, i cant stand staying in a relationship with a man who can't listen to the truth because he is a man.
what did you advise dk.  i need to know b4 it gets out of hand.
